What We Do

The purpose of the South West Critical Care Network is to provide a high quality, responsive and patient focussed service that provides a seamless transition of care for the Critical care patient from ward and acute care and on through to rehabilitation.

The geographical spread of the South West Critical Care Network (SWCCN) makes it one of the largest single networks in England covering 9 hospital Trusts and 16 Intensive Care Units from Cheltenham to Truro.

The distance of one end of the Network to the other is 205 miles and time to travel between sites is considerable given the rural nature of much of the region and limited motorway coverage in the far South West. Many of the hospitals are over 50 miles apart
